The maximum temperature settled at 36°C, while the minimum hovered around 27°C, bringing down the discomfort index. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), more rainfall is expected over the next 48 hours, with localized thunderstorms likely by late evening.Air quality remained in the moderate category, slightly improving due to the rain-induced dust settling.

Uttar Pradesh: Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain Lash Eastern PartsSeveral districts in Uttar Pradesh were hit by moderate to heavy rainfall, especially in eastern and central regions. Cities like Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, and Varanasi saw intense showers accompanied by thunder and lightning.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for parts of eastern UP, warning of potential thunderstorms and lightning activity. While Western UP, including Noida, Meerut, and Ghaziabad, received only light rain, overcast conditions kept daytime temperatures in check.

Madhya Pradesh: Orange Alert in Central MP as Heavy Rain Hits Bhopal and JabalpurIn Madhya Pradesh, the monsoon showed full force. Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, and surrounding regions witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day, resulting in waterlogging in several urban localities.

The IMD has issued an orange alert for central and eastern MP, including Chhindwara, Betul, and Sagar, indicating the possibility of very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours. Rural regions welcomed the showers as they are expected to aid kharif crop sowing, which had been delayed due to earlier dry spells.

Rajasthan: Showers Bring Relief in Jaipur, Alert Issued for Southern DistrictsIn Rajasthan, Jaipur and adjoining areas experienced moderate rainfall, bringing the maximum temperature down to 32°C. The Rajasthan Meteorological Centre has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the southern districts like Baran, Banswara, Chittorgarh, and Dungarpur in the coming days.

Jodhpur and Bikaner remained dry with occasional cloud cover, but showers are expected by Thursday. Authorities in Udaipur have already initiated drainage preparedness to tackle any waterlogging issues.

Other Cities See Varied Conditions

Mumbai continued to reel under heavy monsoon downpours, leading to minor disruptions in road traffic and suburban train services. The maximum temperature stayed around 30°C.

Kolkata witnessed scattered thunderstorms, with humidity levels crossing 80%, keeping weather conditions muggy despite intermittent rain.

Chennai remained hot and humid, with temperatures around 35°C. The IMD predicted chances of light showers in the coastal belt during the night.

Bangalore reported pleasant weather, with light drizzle and temperatures ranging between 21°C and 28°C.

Hyderabad saw moderate rainfall through the day. A yellow alert remains in place for potential downpours across Telangana.

IMD OutlookAccording to the India Meteorological Department, a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal and moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea are fueling rainfall over northern and central parts of the country. The wet spell is likely to continue through the week, with Delhi, UP, MP, and parts of Rajasthan seeing increased rainfall intensity from Wednesday onward.
